SABBATH UPDATES & REMINDERS

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”-Psalms 133:1

For the Sabbath of April 28th

Updates

This will be the last time I will be able to share with you a formal note for a couple of weeks. I will be headed for the General Conference of Elders early next Thursday. I will be gone till the following Tuesday evening. It is always a comfort to know while I am away that other Elders are here to care for you if issues arise.  Joining me in Cincinnati this year will be Mr. and Mrs. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mr. Roland Clark and Mr. Cowell.

There are many vital issues that face the United Church of God as we move towards this conference in May. I hope that all of you will consider Mr. Dick’s invitation to choose a day to fast in the coming days as we seek God’s will and that we might come to fully appreciate and understand His blessings and how they might best be utilized.

Reminders

There will be a Member’s Meeting & Open Forum in Redlands after services. We
will deal with local issues that you choose to bring up and I will be offering an overview
of the upcoming GCE Conference and look forward to your input and comments.

Service Times for both congregations on May 5 will be 2:30 p.m. so the congregations will be able to view the videos of the GCE Weekend Sermons from Cincinnati.

The next Sabbath, May 12th, services will be at 10:30 a.m. for San Diego & 2:30 p.m. for
Redlands as I will be “running the circuit” that day after having been away at the Conference the week before and will be bringing news from this important activity.

Something to Think About

3-3-07:

“If you take care of the things that are dear to God, He will take care of the things that are dear to you”-----Howard Taylor

“Without faith a man can do nothing, with it all things are possible”—Sir William Osler

2-17-07:

As Presidential Weekend comes upon us, thoughts of leadership percolate to the fore.

Consider the words of Walter Mac Peek:

A leader is a person who is going somewhere---but not going alone. He takes others with him. His/her ability in setting up situations in which others are willing to follow him and happy to work with him is a precious skill called leadership.  This skill is made up of many qualities---thoughtfulness and consideration for others, enthusiasm, the ability to share responsibility with others, and a multitude of other traits. But fundamentally a leader is one who leads, one who has a plan, one who keeps headed towards a goal and a purpose.  He has the enthusiasm to keep moving forward in such a way that others gladly go with him.

With that said and read; now consider the words of Nehemiah 2:17-18

Then I (Nehemiah) said to them, “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire.  Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem that we may no longer be a reproach.”

And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me.  So they said, “let us rise up and build.”  Then they set their hands to the good work.

2-3-07:

Do not follow where the easy path may lead. Follow God, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail. -Anonymous

1-27-07:

“We make a living by what we get out of life, but we make a life by what we give”

1-20-07:

“Humility is a strange thing. The moment that you think you’ve got it, you’ve lost it.”

1-13-07:

“Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be”—Abraham Lincoln

So----what’s holding us back? :)

1-6-07:

You can tell when you are on the right track---it is usually uphill!
